Book Cover:

The Fault In Our Stars

This is a self set out project to design a book cover for "The fault in our stars". The story revolves around the character Grace Lancaster, a 16 year old cancer patient, who meets and falls in love with a young boy called Gus Waters from her cancer support group.

The design rationale behind this cover intends to be a hidden bitter sweet message only understandable by those who finish the book. (SPOILERS AHEAD) The love interest Gus is known for smoking within the book, its a symbol of the character, an item which is identified with him. Unfortunately towards the end of their story, Gus falls severely ill and sadly passes away.  His death is unexpected as throughout the book he appears fine and is an emotional support for Grace.

The cigarette pack on this book cover is subtle representation of a tomb stone for Gus and a star in the blue sky: Heaven.
